Weight Loss SpicesHow spices help you lose weight? – Indian kitchens are traditionally loaded with variety of spices as they are used every day. Spices are known to be used to add a flavor or a taste to dishes. But few know that spices can be used to cure many diseases. Each spice containing some health benefit. Let’s know them:

Cinnamon:  not only it keeps blood sugar level in control but it also helps in reducing craving for sweets and helps in weight loss. Due to compound called cinnamaldehyde, it’s an anti –inflammatory and a good anti-oxidant, lower down cholesterol and a boon for Diabetic people. Can have 1-6 grams a day and can be added in tea also.

Black Pepper:  black small balls helps in secretion of hydrochloric acid which stomach need for better digestion. Rich in iron, it reduces blood pressure and its regular use also assist in weight loss program

Turmeric: a yellow colored spice that encourage appetite and improves digestion used in ayurvedic medicines , stops the growth of cancer causing cells due its anti-bacterial properties it’s also used in beauty enhancing products like face packs etc.

Coriander: known as anti-anxiety herb also helpful in fighting bacteria and bowel disorder and provide relief in intestinal spasms

Cayenne Pepper : red chili almost present in every Indian food use to spice up dishes  contain capsaicin which assist in fat burning process and controls appetite

Cumin Seeds:  provides relief in digestion issues and prevents from anemia and good in common cold and cough. It boosts immune system and treats stomach ache, indigestion, diarrhea, nausea and morning sickness

Fenugreek Seeds: known as methi can cure number of health problems like anemia, loss of taste, fever, dandruff, stomach disorders, biliousness, respiratory disorders, mouth ulcers, sore throat, diabetes, inflammations. Galactomannan present in it slows down the process of sugar absorption into blood.

 Carom seeds (Ajwain): provides relief in bloating as it increases gastro-intestinal secretions. Can take teaspoon of ajwain to get relieved from stomach pain and gas release

Indian Bay Leaf: also known as tej patta is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, diuretic and has astringent qualities. Used in biryani and curries.

Asafetida: strong flavoring spice improves digestion system and also cure cough, asthma and bronchitis. Useful in menstrual problems.

Cloves: provide relief in many diseases like heart diseases, arthritis and bones diseases and good for toothache and seasonal cold and cough

Nutmeg: vigorous anti-bacterial properties and fights cavities in mouth and also improves memory

Fennel Seeds (Saunf): improves digestion and assist in weight loss and a good mouth freshener, source of fiber and absorbs cholesterol and keeps away neurological diseases

Cardamom: can be anti-depressant good mouth freshener and act against nausea, acidity, bloating, gas, heartburn, loss of appetite, constipation

Saffron: a luxury spice helps treating depression and aids in memory it’s a good anti-oxidant, anti-depressant and improves digestion system. It’s also used in treating impotency, arthritis and infertility.

So Add a little spice and enjoy your food.
